Overview

Surf with us this week at Praia de São Julião — a single session, a few days, or the full five-day course. The coaching and the ratio are the same either way. October is one of the best months to learn here. The summer crowds have gone, the water is still around 19°C, and the Atlantic starts producing the consistent swell that makes Ericeira worth the trip. You will have more room and more waves. We teach at Praia de São Julião, a sand-bottomed beach break fifteen minutes from Ericeira. We chose it because it is kind to people learning — the reef breaks that made this coast famous are no place to stand up for the first time. CHOOSE YOUR FORMAT Single session — €60. Two hours in the water, five surfers per coach. Good for a first go, and good for an experienced surfer who wants someone watching their technique. Five-day course — €340. Five sessions across the week, with video analysis and a photo session included. One lesson teaches you what to do; five teaches your body to do it without being told. This is where most people stop catching white water and start catching green ones. HOW THE WEEK WORKS Your week does not have to start on a Sunday — we can begin any day that suits your travel. Saturday is our rest day, so a five-day course running across a Saturday spreads over six days rather than five. Each session runs two hours, and we set the time around the tides — some mornings early, some afternoons at sunset, whichever gives you the best conditions that day. INCLUDED IN EVERY SESSION · Two hours in the water, five surfers per coach · Wetsuit, board, leash and wax · Beach transfers from anywhere you are staying in Ericeira · Personal and public liability insurance WHO IT’S FOR Complete beginners and improvers, from age seven up. If you have never stood on a board, this is exactly where to start. First-timers, beware: you may be hooked for life. You need to be comfortable in chest-deep water. Beginner lessons take place where you can stand. No accommodation — we stopped doing beds in 2024. Happy to point you somewhere good. WHAT TO BRING Swimwear, a towel, sunscreen and water. Everything else is ours. Every coach is IPDJ-certified as a Sports Coach in Surfing, federated with the Portuguese Surf Federation, and a qualified surf lifeguard and first responder. RNAAT 142/2013.
